Thoughts and Poems from our VolunteersVolunteering At Shady Hollow By: Joanne G. |

Volunteering at Shady HollowVolunteering at Shady Hollow has helped me become more in touch with the outdoors. I used to hate going outside. I'm that kind of person who stays inside and watches television and reads books. At first, I didn't think I'd like volunteering. I thought, "Oh great, a farm... just where I want to work." (Sarcastically, of course). But I went there, and I was surprised. It was very different than how I had pictured it. Helping with horses gave me something fun to do on the weekends other than lounge about watching TV. And I also enjoy helping the people. It makes me feel as if I really am doing something special, and just how happy they are makes me smile. I'm glad I can work at a place like Shady Hollow, and I hope I can work there for a while to come. by: Leanne R., Volunteer |
